What is a Chartered Physiotherapist?
The title "Physiotherapist" is protected by law, and is evidence of a formal qualification in Physiotherapy. “Chartered Physiotherapist” is a protected title, and requires a university degree in Physiotherapy, and membership of the professional regulating body the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).
Do I need a Doctor's referral?
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to attend a Physiotherapist, however if you have had surgery or investigations recently, please bring a copy of any relevant reports or letters.
What can I expect on my first appointment?
A first appointment will typically include a conversation about your concerns followed by a physical examination involving various movements and tests to help to diagnose the problem.
What should I wear for my appointment?
If you are attending for lower back pain or a leg problem, shorts are ideal.
Upper back, neck and shoulder problems require the area to be exposed.
